Galle Lighthouse is located within the historic Galle Fort in Sri Lanka. The current lighthouse was built 100 meters from the original site upon the fort standing six meters above ground level. The Galle Fort lighthouse oversees a small beach, and there are a number of shops and restaurants nearby. The area affords some fantastic views and photo opportunities, while unfortunately visitors are unable to enter the lighthouse to climb up it.
The Galle Lighthouse is a beautiful place. The attractive architecture, tall building and the breeze it echoes are all impressive scenes that even a camera cannot capture at its best. One can see the far-off oceans that face the lighthouse, which is factually the oldest one in the country. It was a sigh of relief for ancient mariners and is an amusing sight for tourists today.
